Savaya or Sundays Beach Club? How to choose your Uluwatu day.

Two clubs under half an hour from the villa, with opposite moods.

Ask anyone planning a few days in the south of Bali where to spend a beach club day and two names come up first: Sundays and Savaya. The Savaya vs Sundays beach club question is one our guests ask us often, and the honest answer is that they are not really rivals. They sit a few kilometres apart on the same stretch of the Bukit, but they offer almost opposite days, and the right one depends on who you are travelling with and what you want the evening to feel like.

Both are close to our villa in Kutuh, which makes it easy to try one, or both on different days. This guide covers what each club is like, who it suits, the rules worth knowing before you go, and how to fit the day around the drive.

About the drive times. Every time in this guide was checked on Google Maps on 17 October 2026, for a weekday departure from the villa, and is Google's typical range. Weekends, temple ceremonies and the high season can add time. Club details were checked on each club's own website on 21 October 2026.

Sundays Beach Club: a day on the sand

About 14 to 20 minutes, 6.0 km. Sundays sits at the foot of the Ungasan cliffs, on a small stretch of white sand that you reach by an inclinator, a lift that runs down the cliff face. The ride down is part of the fun, and it means the beach feels tucked away from the road above.

The day here is about the water. Sundays lists kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, snorkelling and swimming in the lagoon and the rock pools among the reef, all depending on the tide and on availability. Between swims there are sundecks and a restaurant. As the light goes, there is live music, and the club lights bonfires on the sand each evening, with beanbags around them.

Walk-in day passes are the simple way to go. If you want a reserved space, Sundays offers sundecks, bungalows and a beach house that can be booked ahead through its website, which is worth doing in the busy months.

Savaya: the clifftop and the music

About 18 to 24 minutes, 6.8 km, or 20 to 28 minutes leaving at four in the afternoon. Savaya is on the Pecatu side, set on the clifftop about one hundred metres above the Indian Ocean, between the limestone cliffs and the green of the headland. The whole place is built around music: sunset sets, and a calendar of international DJs and themed nights on top of that.

This is where to go for golden hour with a crowd, a big view and a night that builds. The atmosphere is the opposite of a lazy beach day. You go for the sound, the view from the cliff and the energy as the sun drops.

Rules worth knowing before Savaya

Savaya's own FAQ sets out a few things that catch visitors out, so it is worth reading before you plan the evening:

Which one suits you

Choose Sundays if you want to be in the water, if you are a mixed group with different energy levels, or if you are travelling with children. Savaya is 21 and over, so for families Sundays is the only choice of the two; ask the club about children when you book a space. It also suits a slow first day in Bali, when the plan is a swim, a long lunch and an early night.

Choose Savaya if the music is the point, if there is a DJ on the calendar you want to hear, or if you are a group of adults celebrating something. It suits the middle or end of a trip, when you have the energy for a late evening and a slow morning after.

Do both if you are staying a few nights. A Sundays day early in the stay, and a Savaya evening once you have found your feet, gives you the two faces of this coast without trying to fit them into one day.

How to plan the day from the villa

For Sundays, go in the morning. Arriving before the middle of the day gives you the pick of the space, and the tide decides how much of the lagoon and the rock pools you can use, so it is worth a look at the tide times the night before. Stay through to the bonfire if the group is enjoying it; the drive home is short.

For Savaya, have a quiet day at the villa first. A swim in the pool, lunch at home, and a rest in the afternoon, then leave for the clifftop in time for the sunset set. Late-afternoon traffic on the Bukit is slower than the morning, so allow for the longer drive time above. Check the event calendar that week, since special nights change the mood and the ticketing.

If you want to compare more clubs along the coast, our guide to the best beach clubs in Uluwatu covers Melasti, the west-coast cliff bars and Rock Bar too. We also have pages on staying near Sundays Beach Club and near Savaya.
