The best cafes in Uluwatu for breakfast and coffee.

Three west coast mornings worth the drive, and one old favourite to cross off your list.

Private pool and tropical garden at La Calma villa in Kutuh, a morning drive from the cafes of Uluwatu
La Calma de Celine, Kutuh, Uluwatu

Ask ten people for the best cafes in Uluwatu and you will get ten lists, and some of them will be out of date. Places here change quickly, so before writing this guide we checked each one on its own website and Google listing on 3 November 2026. Three made it: Drifter, Bukit Cafe and Suka, all in Pecatu on or just off the west coast road.

Our villa, La Calma de Celine, is on the other side of the Bukit in Kutuh, so none of these is a stroll from the door. They are worth the drive on a morning you are heading west anyway, for Bingin, Padang Padang or a long lunch that turns into sunset.

About the drive times. Every time in this guide was checked on Google Maps on 17 October 2026, for a weekday morning departure from the villa, and is Google's typical range. Weekends, temple ceremonies and the high season can add time.

Drifter, for surf and coffee

About 22 to 40 minutes, 9.7 km. Drifter is a surf shop first, selling boards, swimwear and accessories, with a cafe attached. That mix is the reason to go: you can look over surfboards with an iced latte in your hand, then sit down for something proper. Guides and reviews mention thick smoothies and smashed avocado, and Google shows a second listing at the same street number under the name Drifter Acai Bowls and Vegan Gelato. Plant-based eaters will find plenty here, though menus change, so look at the current one before you set your heart on a dish.

It is the closest of the three to the villa, and it suits a group where one person wants to browse while another wants a second coffee. Listings give the address on both Jalan Labuansait and Jalan Pantai Bingin, so follow the Google pin rather than the street name.

Bukit Cafe, for a calm table

About 24 to 45 minutes, 10.0 km. Bukit Cafe sits on Jalan Labuansait between the Bingin and Padang Padang beaches, and its own site describes a bright, airy room with natural materials and tropical flowers around it. One recent Google reviewer praises the open space and natural light. The site pitches its breakfast as quick and generous, for people stopping between surf sessions, and photos on the Google listing lean towards granola, eggs Benedict and cappuccino.

The site gives an 8am start, which makes this an easy first stop before a beach. It also says the cafe suits couples, families and surfers alike. Some reviews mention slower service on busy days, so allow time rather than squeezing it in before something fixed.

Suka, if you go early

About 28 to 45 minutes, 13.2 km. Suka is the crowd favourite, with more than 11,000 Google reviews and a 4.8 rating on the day we looked. Its page calls it a casual Australian-style cafe and restaurant with specialty coffee sourced ethically from across Indonesia, and its Google photos and reviews point to smoothie bowls, poke and eggs Benedict. Reviewers also mention vegan and gluten-free choices.

Popularity has a cost. At about half past twelve on the Tuesday we checked, Google's live reading for Suka said "as busy as it gets", while Bukit Cafe, on the same road, said "a little busy". Suka's page gives 7.30am as its opening time and says breakfast runs until 3pm, so there is no need to arrive at the peak. It works on a walk-in basis for most of the day and takes reservations for the evening.

An old favourite that has closed

Several Bingin guides still recommend Kelly's Warung on the sand at the foot of the cliff steps. When we checked on 3 November 2026, its Google listing said permanently closed. It is a useful reminder: before you drive across the peninsula for a place you read about, open its listing and check it is still trading. The steps at Bingin are steep and long, and you do not want to find out at the bottom.

How to plan the morning

From Kutuh, the west coast is a longer drive than the beaches close to home. Melasti takes about 12 to 18 minutes, while Bingin takes about 26 to 50 and Padang Padang about 26 to 45. So treat a cafe as part of a west coast morning rather than a trip of its own. Two pairings work well:

If you plan to stay out for sunset, remember that the late afternoon roads slow down. Our guide to the best sunset spots in Uluwatu has the timings, and the best beaches in Uluwatu covers the rest of the coast.

Or stay in for breakfast

Some mornings the best table is your own. At the villa, a floating breakfast brings a woven tray of tropical fruit, pastries, juice and coffee to the pool steps. Tell the butler the evening before and choose your time. It suits the slow mornings before Melasti, and leaves the west coast cafes for the days you are heading that way.
