A slow, private week on the Bukit: mornings at home, afternoons by the sea, dinner wherever you like.
The best honeymoon villa in Uluwatu is not the one with the longest list of things to do. It is the one that lets you do very little, well. After a wedding week most couples want the same three things: a place that is entirely theirs, mornings with no schedule, and a handful of outings worth leaving for. This is how we would plan that week, written from the villa where we host honeymooners, La Calma de Celine in Kutuh.
Kutuh sits on the Bukit peninsula, the limestone headland at the southern tip of Bali. It is a quiet village between Ungasan and Nusa Dua, which puts you within reach of both coasts without staying on a busy tourist road.
Do not plan the first two days. Sleep, swim, and let the jet lag go. A private villa matters most here: there is no lobby, no shared pool and no breakfast buffet, so the first morning can begin whenever you do.
The floating breakfast is the classic honeymoon morning. Tell the butler the evening before, choose a time, and a woven tray of tropical fruit, pastries, juice and coffee arrives afloat at the pool steps. Roughly seven to eight in the morning gives the softest light on the water. It is arranged in the villa for guests only, and works best booked a day ahead. More on the floating breakfast.
About 12 to 18 minutes, 5.4 km. Melasti is the white-cliff beach where the road curves down to bright, clear water. Go before nine, when the light is soft and the sand has room. Tropical Temptation, on the same beach, is an adults-only beach club, which suits couples who want a day bed and no children nearby. Our Melasti morning guide and the page on staying near Melasti Beach have the details.
The west coast has the sunsets, and the roads know it. Pick one evening and leave by four.
Uluwatu Temple: about 24 to 45 minutes, 12.0 km (26 to 55 minutes if you leave at four). A sea temple on the cliff edge. It is a place of worship, so cover shoulders and knees, and keep loose items zipped away, because the macaques take sunglasses and hats. Our temple and Kecak guide covers the practical side.
El Kabron: about 26 to 45 minutes, 11.0 km. A Spanish restaurant and cliff club in Pecatu, known for its sunset views. Reserve a table ahead through the restaurant. For the longer list, see our best sunset spots.
Jimbaran Bay: about 18 to 35 minutes, 8.3 km (22 to 45 minutes at four in the afternoon). Seafood grilled on the sand with the sun going down over a sheltered bay is a good honeymoon evening. Arrive early, and ask how your seafood is priced before it goes on the grill. We explain the whole process in our Jimbaran seafood guide.
After one night out you will probably want the rest at home. A private chef can cook in the villa kitchen and serve dinner in the dining room, with no table to book and no drive back in the dark. Details are on our private chef page.
For a honeymoon or an anniversary, the villa team can arrange flower and candle styling for your arrival or a surprise evening, a couples massage in the villa, a private chef dinner, and a photographer for portraits. These are extras arranged ahead of time and settled before they are prepared. If you are planning a proposal, tell us and no one else. See romantic stays.
La Calma de Celine is a two-bedroom private pool villa in Kutuh for up to four guests, with a seven-metre sunken living room, butler service, a private chef on request and Starlink wifi. It is never shared: one booking at a time, and honeymoon dates tend to go first, so check availability early.
Guests who book direct get one free drop-off each day from the villa to Uluwatu, Pecatu, Ungasan, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua, drop-off only. That covers a Melasti morning or a west coast sunset; the ride back is arranged separately. Stays of 4 or 5 nights include one free airport transfer, and stays of 6 nights or more include two.
